According to sources in Spain, Arsenal and Liverpool will be unable to recruit Villarreal striker Yeremy Pino unless they pay a large sum for his services. The Spaniard has a £67.5 million release clause, but his agent feels that remaining with the Yellow submarine is in his best interests.

Pino is one of Europe’s hottest assets after a breakout season in Spain. The wideman scored seven goals and provided four assists in 40 appearances for the Champions League semi-finalists, with a four-goal haul against Espanyol in February being a season highlight. His performance earned him a call-up to the national team, where he has won four caps and scored one.

At only 19 years old, he is seen as a major potential possibility and has piqued the interest of both Arsenal and Liverpool. The midfielder has a £67.5m release clause, although both teams are expected to want to sign him for less.

According to the Spanish newspaper AS, it would take a big bid to persuade Villarreal to sell the kid. The club is willing to trade players in order to strengthen their finances and fund moves for other talents such as Tottenham’s Giovanni Lo Celso, but Pino is one of their most valuable assets, and it would take a massive offer for the club to consider moving him.

Pino’s camp also recognises that Villarreal is the finest environment for his growth, and he is hesitant to leave the La Liga club.
Given Mikel Arteta’s penchant to hype future arrivals, it appears that Arsenal is the side most likely to sign the young gun this summer. In contrast, Jurgen Klopp has stated that Liverpool’s season is over unless there are unexpected injuries or player sales.

Following his side’s 2-0 opening-day success over Crystal Palace, the Spaniard stated his ambition to make additional moves in the transfer market.

“We’re going to try; we’ve got a few things prepared,” Arteta told Sky Sports. “It would be fantastic if we could do them, but for now, we have to work with the guys we have; we’re already in the thick of the season.”

“The emphasis should be on the players that we have to get the most out of.”
