Arsenal 22 year old has a loan agreement to move to Ligue 1

Nuno Tavares has a ‘complete agreement’ to join Marseille on loan from Arsenal this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, with his physical scheduled for tomorrow.

Following the acquisition of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, the defender has slid down the pecking order in north London, with both Kierney and the new signing set to compete for a first-team spot this season.

Under the new circumstances, it makes sense that the Portuguese would want to move on, and while Atalanta were thought to be interested in a deal, we were unhappy with the idea of including an option to buy, which ended negotiations, and an agreement is now said to be in place for him to join Marseille instead.

With William Saliba and Matteo Guendouzi helping them to a second-place finish in the French division last season, the French club can offer our youngster Champions League football, and if the Portuguese can play regularly in their side, he could well return ready to compete with our current duo for a role in our side.

Nuno Tavares is surely a talented kid but he is still very raw. The loan move will definitely benefit him and the club, that is if he can do well.
