We are searching for an experienced and skilled Game UX/UI Artist with strong technical abilities to join our team at Marmalade Game Studio. Assist in the development of forthcoming gaming projects for multiple platforms with the company that brought you the smash hits Monopoly, Cluedo, Game of Life, The Game of Life 2, and Jumanji: The Curse Returns.

The selected applicant will play a critical role in ensuring the visual quality of our games and providing the greatest possible experience to our players.

We’re searching for someone that will fit in with our enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative team.

You must be adaptable in terms of duties and responsibilities, as well as the capacity to move across development teams. We like what we do and enjoy working with others that share our commitment to excellence. You must be a UK resident and legally permitted to work in the country. Our primary studio is in London, with a branch in Bath. We provide flexible remote work choices.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team to produce moodboard and define the look and feel of our user interface
  • Drive user experience competitor research
  • Be responsible for the UI of the game, produce style guides, rule sets, and templates
  • Create, implement and iterate on UI assets
  • Provide concept sketching, wire-framing, screenflow and high-fidelity UX prototypes
  • Work closely with art, design, production, and developers to iterate on best solutions to UX and UI challenges
  • Mentor more junior designers
  • Support the creation of marketing assets
  • Integrate of UI art assets in the games (using Unity)

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a UX/UI Artist in the games industry
  • Successfully shipped at least one game title
  • Strong graphic design skills showcased by a portfolio that meets the quality of Marmalade Games
  • Ability to explore and create different styles as well following existing brand guidelines
  • Experience creating UX prototypes and wireframes
  • Excellent understanding of typography, composition, colour theory, visual design and interaction design
  • Great communication skills
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD and Unity
  • Experience implementing and animating UI assets in Unity with optimisation in mind

Optional but valuable

  • Previous experience in managing small teams of UX/UI designers
  • Passion for board games (both for professional reasons and because we need more players for our lunchtime sessions!)
