According to writer Dean Jones, Arsenal has “got their eye” on Royal Antwerp midfielder Arthur Vermeeren.

According to the writer for GiveMeSport, if the Gunners decide to part ways with Thomas Partey, they may consider chasing the Belgian international:

“I know they’ve got their eye on the lad at Antwerp [Arthur Vermeeren], who is one of the breakthrough players of his generation and they are at this point trying to consider ways that they can rebuild their midfield.”

“Also, they want to get to a place too where they can allow Declan Rice to get a bit more freedom. So I think it’s been on their radar to bring in another midfielder anyway, but if Thomas Partey is going to continue to struggle and have this sort of injury record, then it is going to be a case of having to bulk up the squad.”

Arsenal may seriously explore replacing Partey.

Despite the fact that we are still in October, the Ghanaian has suffered his seventh injury in three years since joining from Atletico Madrid for £45 million.

Unsurprisingly, the Gunners would be seeking for replacements, Albeit Vermeeren is a totally different sort of player, with the 18-year-old more of an anchor man comparable to Andrea Pirlo than a midfield enforcer.

Vermeeren will face competition.

Other teams have taken note of the teenager’s antics. Barcelona is believed to be interested in him, as are Manchester United, Liverpool, West Ham United, and Brighton.

Antwerp is unlikely to demand a high price for Vermeeren, with estimates claiming that £15 million may be plenty to obtain the Belgian’s services.
