“A Viable Option…” Journalist Claims Chelsea Already Have An Eye On Potential Graham Potter Replacement

Eintracht Frankfurt manager Olivier Glasner is “a viable option” if Chelsea decide to dispense with the services of Graham Potter in the future, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

The German journalist says Glasner was considered before Potter‘s appointment in September and his connections with Blues technical director Christopher Vivell may mean he is looked at again:

“Boehly will have been very impressed with how Glasner won the Europa League with Frankfurt. If he has to get rid of Potter, Glasner could be a viable option. It’s worth remembering that Chelsea’s technical director, Christopher Vivell, did originate from RB Leipzig.”

“When you’re coming from Red Bull’s coaching programme – everyone who graduates all hold a special philosophy – as Glasner has, you tend to share a similar view to current and former employees of a Red Bull club. So, you see, Vivell and Glasner have the same view on football, which is one good reason as to why he could be a hot topic at Chelsea if Potter gets sacked.”

Glasner has had a good record since taking charge of Frankfurt. As well as the Europe League triumph, his team is currently fourth in the Bundesliga table.

The Austrian has also had success at previous clubs SV Ried, LASK Linz and Wolfsburg, having not finished below sixth with any of those sides.

Of course, it would be a massive step up if he were to take on the Chelsea job in the future. At the moment, the club are keeping faith with Potter who (it should be pointed out) has been in charge of the Blues for just 21 matches.
