“A Big Concern For Me…” Hasselbaink Claims There’s One Key Reason Chelsea Should Steer Clear Of 20 Goal Nigerian Ace

Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink does not believe his former club should pursue a deal for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Nigerian international has been in impressive form this campaign, having scored 20 times in all competitions, but Hasselbaink says the forward’s poor injury record raises questions about the transfer:

“A lot of teams are looking at him, he is a good striker, he scores goals, he plays for a big club and he knows the pressure, The only thing I find with him is he gets injured a lot, so his availability is not always there, and the intensity in Italy is not as high as in the Premier League so that would be a big concern for me.”

It is an important point that Hasselbaink makes. Osimhen would have to play a lot more games if he were to make the switch to England and there are legitimate concerns about how well his body would hold up.

Since moving to Napoli in 2020, the 24-year-old has missed 37 matches due to injury (nearly a full league season), and another eight fixtures due to illness.

With there likely to be fierce competition from the likes of Manchester United and others for Osimhen’s signature, he won’t be available for a low price either. Reports in Italy suggest he could cost in excess of £100m.
