The Ghanaian, who joined from Atletico Madrid for £45m in 2020, could be one of four first-team players who could be sold by the Gunners this summer.
Granit Xhaka is expected to complete his £13m move to Bayer Leverkusen very soon, while there are also doubts over the futures of Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding.
Tierney is reportedly a target for Newcastle, with the former Celtic defender having fallen out of favour under Arteta. Holding’s poor performances when covering for William Saliba during the run-in have likely prompted the decision to offload the centre-back.
Why are Arsenal looking to sell Partey?
The midfielder had his fair share of injury problems during his first two seasons at the Emirates and, while he has been fit for most of this campaign, there is a feeling that he can’t be relied upon fully.
Partey returned from the last international break with a minor injury and his form dropped markedly from that point onwards. With the player also closing in on 30 years of age, it may be best to sell him now and reinvest the money in a younger replacement like Declan Rice.
